eCDF filing
Set up your firm's eCDF agent access
The one-off setup that lets your firm file eCDF XML from Spyral, including the transfer rights request and the identifiers each client company needs.
eCDF is the Luxembourg platform for electronic financial filings, run by CTIE. Details of the platform and the filings it accepts are published at ecdf.b2g.etat.lu.
A filing produced by Spyral names two parties:
- the Agent, which is your firm, filing on a client's behalf
- the Declarer, which is the client company the filing is about
Both have to be filled in before an export will succeed. The Agent is set once for your whole firm. The Declarer is set once per client company.
Until this setup is complete, every eCDF export fails with a message naming the identifier that is missing. It is worth doing on your first day rather than the day a filing is due.
The six steps
1. Your firm already has an eCDF account and a prefix.
The prefix is issued to your firm by eCDF when you register as an agent. Spyral does not issue it and cannot look it up. If your firm does not have one yet, that is arranged at ecdf.b2g.etat.lu, not in Spyral.
2. Enter your firm's identifiers in Spyral.
Go to Settings, then Team, and find the eCDF filing card. Its description reads: your firm's identifiers as the eCDF Agent, embedded in every filing XML.
Fill in four fields and choose Save.
| Field | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| eCDF prefix | Exactly 6 characters, letters and digits, for example ABC123. Spyral converts it to capitals for you. |
| Matricule (national ID) | Your firm's national identifier, 11 or 13 digits. |
| RCS number | Your firm's RCS number, a letter followed by 2 to 6 digits, for example B123456. If your firm has none, enter NE. |
| VAT number (without LU) | 8 digits, with the LU country prefix left off. If your firm has none, enter NE. |
Only a team member who can manage team settings sees this card.
3. Read the interface ID shown on that card.
The same card displays an interface ID. This is the identifier eCDF uses to recognise filings arriving from Spyral.
Copy the interface ID from your own card. It is displayed live on the card in your Spyral account. Do not use an ID copied from a colleague's notes, a forum post or anywhere else.
4. Your firm's eCDF administrator requests XML transfer rights.
Whoever administers your firm's eCDF account signs in to eCDF and requests XML transfer rights for that interface ID. This is done on the eCDF platform, not in Spyral.
5. CTIE grants the rights once it receives the request.
There is nothing further to send, nobody to contact and no test filing to complete first. Spyral's eCDF export is homologated by CTIE for production filing.
6. Fill in each client company's own identifiers.
The Agent identity covers your firm. Every client company you file for also needs its own Declarer identity.
Open the company, choose Edit company from its actions menu, and fill in:
- Matricule (national ID), 11 or 13 digits
- VAT number, 8 digits, without LU
A company missing either of these cannot be exported, and the export error names which one it is.
The two states of the eCDF filing card
The card shows one of two messages above the fields. Which one you see tells you what your exported files can be used for.
The access request message. The card explains that to activate XML filings for your firm, your eCDF account administrator should request XML transfer rights for the interface ID shown, and that the rights are granted once CTIE receives the request. This is the normal state. Files you export are intended for real filing, once the rights are in place.
The test area message. The card says that no CTIE interface ID is configured, and that exported files are only accepted in the eCDF developer test area.
If you see the test area message, files exported from that Spyral environment cannot be filed. They are only accepted in the eCDF developer test area.
This normally means you are signed in to a test or demo environment rather than your firm's live one. Check which environment you are in, and contact us if you see it on the account you use for real work.
Checking it worked
There is no green tick to confirm the transfer rights have been granted. The practical test is an export.
Open a completed ledger for one of your client companies and export it as eCDF filing XML. If the identifiers are all in place, the file downloads. If one is missing, the error names it and tells you whether it belongs under Team, then eCDF filing, or on the company profile.
Client groups and suggested relationships
Group related client companies together, and review the ownership, management and counterparty relationships Spyral infers from their documents.
Export the eCDF file and fix rejections
Produce the eCDF filing XML from a ledger, choose the right undertaking size, and understand every error and warning the export can return.
